I usually drink about 3-4 pints during a batch. Staying away from beer while I make beer seems counter-intuitive to me. Although I am sure I would make better beer sober. But then I would be bored too.

Unless I have people over I typically do not drink till I've started chilling. I want to make sure I hit my temps and volumes, and this is the best way I've found to do it.

I've cut back. One time my buddy and I were doing a double batch and we nearly screwed up 3 different times because we were a bit buzzed. Since that time, I take it easy and typically have one. You put too much time and effort into it to screw it up.

I will usually have 4-5 and rarely more than that. This is spread out over 2 10 gallon batches most of the time and 5-6 hours. That is average less than 1 beer per hour which will usually keep you under the limit and not even really buzzed. Haven't had any problems other than forgetting the irish moss, and I do that even if I don't drink.

Zero has worked out good for me. Too afraid of making a stupid mistake but I have one once everything is put away.

Usually none but if I have somebody over while I'm brewing, I'll usually have a couple of pints.

I usually have 2-3 pints during the entire Brewday.. My first pint is usually poured waiting for the boil. I like to wait until after the mash so I don't mess up any calculations.

By no means am I pounding either.. I just like to have a few beers while I brew.. Something about the whole process that makes me thirsty.. Don't know what it is (IMG:style_emoticons/brewboard/wink.gif)

I don't drink during brewing. Once yeast is pitched and everything is cleaned and put away...well, then I'll have one.

Brew on, (IMG:style_emoticons/brewboard/cheers.gif)

What's with all you non-alcoholic brewers?

55% of us have 0-1 beers during brewing. I feel like I need AA meetings now.

Shite, I used to drink while the strike water was heating but I learned my lesson. I only drink once the boil has started and all additions are apportioned.
I even have non-drinking sessions sometimes now. If it's a guest brew situation, the rules go out the window, of course. :)

I do not drink when I all-grain brew, I usually start breweing very early in the morning to even thing about drinking. If I do a quick extract batch, I will have 1-2 beers.

Fortunately our name says it all, there are two of us brewing. So we will have one or two while setting up, then won't have one until the boil start.
Of course lately we are bottling or kegging while brewing so no time to drink until we get to clean up stage of the day. (IMG:style_emoticons/brewboard/tongue.gif)

I can't see crackin' a cold one at 0-dark-30 when I'm starting to brew. I'm usually eating cereal and drinking java at this point.

Maybe if I had some breakfast/oatmeal stout on hand things might be different. (IMG:style_emoticons/brewboard/hehe.gif)
