Which Beck's? There are a few styles made by Becks.

Since you're new here, can you provide us with a brief summary of your brewing experience? For example have you made any lagers before? As for Becks, since there's nothing all that distinctive about it, I'd just find a generic German pilsner recipe and give that a try. Be aware that this is not a good type of beer for beginners (if indeed you are a beginner).

We are a group of friends that like to get togther a brew! Been doing home brew for a few years now, (I don't post much) and I happen to like Becks....hence the question. Last batch was a Bitburger clone, I wanted to try something different this time. I have brewed German Alt, Nut Brown Ale, various IPA's, Bitburger, Dappelbock, Oktoberfest, to mention a few. This board has some good info on it....... "If you don't try to brew it....you'll never know how it turned out!" |

Assuming it's Beck's German Pilsener you want to brew, then I'd start with your Bitburger recipe and try to identify the flavors that are different with Becks. I think both are German Pilseners? What was your recipe for the Bitburger, and what, if any, flavors were different from that final product and the Becks you are trying to brew?

I'd probably just go all pils malt...OG: 1.047 or so. 30 ibus or so. 0.5-1 oz of a german noble near the end of the boil. Use a German lager yeast. 34/70 works well (WY2124, WLP830). Mash for attenuation.
Oh, then bottle it in green bottles. (IMG:style_emoticons/brewboard/tongue.gif) |
