I brewed a mad elf clone for festivus about 6+ months ago, and now is the time to carbonate.
I don't really have the room in my converted freezer chest, so I was wondering if priming
would work with a brew that has been sitting for 6 months. Has anyone out there used priming
sugar on an aged beer?

i built a holiday ale (OG of 1.110!) i aged this beer in the secodary for 16months, added priming sugar and bottled.
the beer is still the best i've made, it turned out perfectly carbonated.
i used champagne yeast for this one. but if you're really worried about it, add a quarter pack of nottingham dry yeast to the priming bucket

Nice to see other brewers with the patience to long age...some of my favorite beers are old timers.

I usually force carbonate in a keg (and in fact don't even like a lot of carbonation of the bigger, older beers), but the couple of times I bottle carbonated I did add some yeast/priming...just to play it safe. They probably didn't need it, though I suspect it would have taken longer for them to carbonate
