I check in on a few boards and they are all slow, you can only rehash the same subjects so many times I guess...

Well...I read a little about what happened. Seems that the old public forum sparked some problems. I found where most of my old buddies are hanging out now. I'll post here and there if I have something of value to add.

ohhh your talking about how the public forum raised a debate that the over stimulation of rods and cones in the eye by the color green may have adverse effects on perceived hop bitterness in certain ales?

I'm fairly new to the board..and what I have noticed is that it goes back and forth. I hope people continue to post. Being new to brewing, this site really helps. It's full of information, and if you can't find it, you can ask. Someone always responds. Thanks to all that do.

I have been brewing for a number of years now and I still find this board to be very helpful. The broad scope of knowledge that is stored in the archives and in the current posters has been invaluable to me on many occasions.

Heck its even good for a laugh or two sometimes.

Brew on!!!

I loved this board for many years but since I have been back into the brewing process over the past 6 months I have not participated much due to the lack of others participation level. I remember spending hours a day here with 100's of interactions but now you may go days without a response. Sadly I have have moved onto another brew board, but still visit the Green Board on occasion.

The BrewBoard was where I found most of the info that helped me to start brewing. It helped me to get started right, without too many rookie mistakes.

I went from extract to partial-mash to all grain. I used links found on the boards to research, purchase, and build a Sanyo kegerator.

My process is pretty much set now (I live in a small apartment, and don't have any room to grow) so I don't have that many questions anymore.

It has definitely slowed down a lot since I started. Sometimes I don't go on the forum for weeks and then log in and click on the 'view new posts' and only find about one page of posts since my last visit.

I don't think I even noticed the 'debacle' last year. Some time before that I got tired of all the Public House posts when I was only interested in brew related postings. I emailed the admin and he did something so I don't even see the Public House posts at all.

I hope the Board can continue to exist and continue to help me and others to find answers and inspiration and brew better beer.

When I first found this board I loved it, lots of good advice and all. But I noticed some pretty strong cliques, and outsiders weren't really welcome. I once posted a recipe in response to a member's question and one of the regulars slammed me. He said if I didn't have medals or scoresheets to back up my recipe I had no business posting it here. That pretty much soured me on this forum. I've brewed 17 years, 15 all grain but have never entered a competition and I don't think I need to to validate the quality of my beer to anyone. I still come here from time to time but I rarely post anymore.

It is not a bad place trust me. There are some truly good folks here and some neat info to find.
I got the info to start making my on carbonator caps, to mess around with re-purposing manifolds and all sorts of weirdo stuff.
Keep participating and keep making cider and braggot . . .I like cider and mead and braggot . . . alot (IMG:style_emoticons/brewboard/headbang.gif)

I myself have not been on this board for quite some time. Sad to see that it has slowed way down since I was last on. HOWEVER, the info received and advice from the great peeps on this board is amazing. Glad its still here for me to search back to or post up if needed.

I used to be a regular on the board as well and at the time this was far and away the best brewing forum I ever found. I am unaware of the details of the debacle that was mentioned.

As odd as it sounds I quit frequenting the board as I got more involved with my local Homebrew Club (president) and as I took on other projects like restoring my Jeep CJ. I've got my brewing and kegging systems down solid so there was not as much need for me to frequent the forum for answers. As a responder, as mentioned earlier, you can only rehash the same questions so many times before it gets to monotonous.

I've noticed that as I have come back to randomly check the forums over the past year that the traffic and posting has died. I don't know what happened in the public forum to kill the beer forum but it truly is a shame.

Let's be honest. This was, at one time, my favorite of all the homebrew forums.

But now, due to an almost complete lack of any new activity, I find it time to say goodbye to this forum, once and for all. I have grown tired of coming to check on new posts, only to find nothing or next-to-nothing.

I don't think I'll be back, except perhaps to do word searches on old posts, as yes, at one point in time, there was an ENORMOUS WEALTH of information shared here. But now, I guess, Elvis has left the building.

Goodbye. But no worries. You can find me on all the other forums. Take care.

Dam I missed something spectacular I guess, I used to be regular in the public house but it seems to be no more. Any idea where most of the crew is hiding these days
