What happened to the Brewboard? It seems that traffic / participation has died to a slow crawl....

I was not active on here for many months.....come back and it seems like a ghost town....

There was some kind of weird blow-up and people left. It was still very active for awhile, but I agree, it's gotten very slow.

You think this is dead -- have you been on the old Usenet rec.crafts.brewing lately? That was my old mainstay. But these fancy forums killed it.

Yes, it seems this board is dying a slow death. And it is unfortunate, as I really like the layout, and we have shared a lot of good information here.

I've thought the same thing, although I'm just back to brewing from a hiatus. Perhaps those left should post more often?

the board is what we as a user community make of it. There is a ton of great info here. There has also been an explosion of similar boards. Also summer is a slow time for most forums as people are out and about and less brewing is goinh on due to high ambient fermentation temps.

post well and post often.

I use to post a lot more from my workplace, but since couple month ago, I can't open this forum from my company's network. Just take forever and get a server error message. It doesn't seem to be a firewall issue.
Not sure if it is just me or if something has been changed on the site. If changes to the site is causing the issue, it may be one factor to explain the low traffic.

I have noticed that the board hit a lul about this time last year, as the holiday season arrives and folks get new homebrewing kits I expect things will pick up again. I wouldn't be surprised if the slacked economy had something to do with it as well.

I'm fairly new to the board..and what I have noticed is that it goes back and forth. I hope people continue to post. Being new to brewing, this site really helps. It's full of information, and if you can't find it, you can ask. Someone always responds. Thanks to all that do.

Look at the upside: No-one posting= no offensive threads to delete.

You've probably got the story from others, but it has slowed down considerably from the levels over a year ago. I still check here a few times a day but I don't post all that often.

I still browse here on occasion, but I doubt the forums can fully recover from the debacle that occured last year.
Just too many other good boards out there.

What was the debacle last year? Was it the stuff that was happing in the public forms section, which was later removed?

I regularly receive threads from this forum in my Google Reader. Although its not as active as some, the 'quality' of the topics and questions are generally more interesting to me.

Definitely a lot less, "I know this might sound stupid but has anyone tried doing [this] with a keezer?" type posts.

btw: the answer is yes, someone has tried it and yes, it does sound stupid.
