Mmm, I've had some strange lumps now that I mention it, perhaps that 6 was far too generous.
Even though the simplicity is hard to beat, if you don't get the result it's not really worth it.

i've used them, and they worked fine for me. But i don't see much point in them. White sugar is so cheap, and it really doesn't save that much time.

I like them, as I am a kegger and it's nice to fill a six pack or so when you are kegging. Very expensive for a full batch though.

they didn't carbonate my beer enough, and left nice deposits in the bottom of my bottles when they weren't busy getting stuck in the bottle mouths.

useless.

I tried them and didn't have consistent results. That could have been due to my very young assistants missing a couple and maybe doubling up on others. I'll stick with sugar though, it's easy enough to whip up.

A couple few times I have split a five gallon batch five ways to check different yeasts. Bulk priming only a gallon seemed silly so I used the carbonation drops for the ten or so bottles per gallon. They seemed to work well. The only knock I have against them is that they are not consistant diameter wise. Some had to be forced into the bottles. I can't recall seeing anything odd at the bottom of bottles.

They didn't foam nearly as much as the tablets.
