I bought a Sabco Universal Kettle. It is a reconditioned beer keg but you have the option of getting a new keg as well. It is acid cleaned with two sanitary-welded couplings for a valve and thermometer. The top opening is cut perfectly round and smooth. Steel is standard (heavy) 304 stainless. I like the way the bottom skirt keeps the heat concentrated. Overall I think it is a good value compared to other SS pots that hold the same amount - plus no drilling or bulkhead fittings required.

I've used a Sabco kettle at the local brewpub, and it is a wonderful piece of equipment. Well designed and well made and reasonably priced -- you can't ask for more than that!

I agree with CJ.....while not the cheapest options you might be able to find, in my experience the SABCO kettle and fermenter both work very well with little to no hassle. Highly recommended!!

I just picked one up off craigs list and it's great. Welding's perfect and it saved me the time and effort of chopping and drilling.

I don't know if it's there regular price or really a special, but they have basic keggles with just the 12" hole cut in the top for $99.95.

If you don't mind drilling holes your self and using weldless fittings its not a bad deal. (although I did pick up the same thing from an ebay site for about the same price delivered).
