Thanks Frosty,
Oh and regarding the sight tubing; get polycarbonate, not acrylic. Totally different animals.
Both are clear, Acrilic just a tad more clear, less expensive, and VERY brittle. This is a bad choice for plastic.
Polycarbonate has a very slight blue tint, costs a bit more, but you have to work real hard to break it.

Bought the wrong one for a job at work. Plastic is plastic, right?
WRONG!
The acrylic shattered when I tried to cut it to dimension on a bandsaw.

So please learn from my stoopid mistakes.

Hey, great thread Stout Fan... just read it beginning to end. I have much to aspire to as both a tinkerer and as a noob brewer. Maybe I'll have the wondrous tool collection and know-how in 25 years as well!

Are you planning on implementing any electronics in the way of controls?

Thanks, implementing electronics was the eventual goal. However, other things have gotten in the way. (IMG:style_emoticons/brewboard/blush.gif)
I have a laptop dedicated to the task. Running Xp (IMG:style_emoticons/brewboard/crazy.gif)
I just have to figure out what development tools I want to use on this.
My LHBS is getting some 30 gal pots in, so I'm thinking of a hardware upgrade before starting on the software.

That is the one thing I don't like about single topic forums, things get buried pretty deep. The forums with multiple sections leave stuff like this within reach.

It does make the forum easier to navigate though....
