QUOTE(Braindead @ Sep 15 2005, 05:00 PM) Thanks for the link, Braindead. So the guy at beeradvocate says: QUOTE about 1.042 per pound He must be implying 1.042 per pound assuming a 1 gallon volume - right? Thanks again! |

Thanks again! That's how i took it, but it's hard to say. I have a bunch of the Muscovado here and was wondering the same thing? I just found that thread searching for info on the sugar. Although I have never bought (or used) this type of sugar, if it is similar in consistency to refined white (or brown) sugar I would use 46 pppg rather than the 42 points noted in that link - unless Muscovado sugar is 'cut' with other ingredients... (IMG:style_emoticons/brewboard/sorry.gif)

HighTest, I made a calculator to go with the Mead OG FAQ:
Mead OG Calculator Edit: Just added so you can calculate with a different starting gravity (think cyser). I still haven't gotten the 15% moisture to give 100% correct results. This post has been edited by Thomas: Oct 8 2005, 10:55 AM |

Thomas, I moved your calculator post to this thread as the subject matter is a better fit.
As there are already two calculators here, I'm wondering if you made your calculator as a java script excerise? Also, I think it might be better recieved if the ads were removed You may want to read the brewboard policy about commercial ads. (IMG:style_emoticons/brewboard/wink.gif) Latstly I'm puzzled by your "(think cyser)" note. Would you clarify it? (IMG:style_emoticons/brewboard/smile.gif) |

Well I made it as both an excercise and because I know not everyone has access to excel all the time. Same thing with my other javascript calculators.
Think cyser was for calculating OG with the "Water" having a different starting gravity, as in cider for making cyser. |

My Basic Honey OG & NAS add point speadsheet has been revised. Members who have an older version should replace that version with this one as the Brix conversion formulae were inaccurate... (IMG:style_emoticons/brewboard/sorry.gif) 11/06/05 Spreadsheet [attachment=81:attachment]

Did this get unpinned as a result of the recent happenings, or is there really no value in having it pinned anymore?
I don't much care, but I made the spreadsheet in hopes that it be easily found and used by others... |

That spread sheet has been very helpful to me. thanks |

That spread sheet has been very helpful to me. thanks I've been away from the boards for a bit...whats up with the missing moderator? I noticed that all of HT's posts in the FAQ's (like staged additions, calc. your OG etc.) are missing too. Whats going on? |

I noticed the other day there is a bug in this spreadsheet. Specifically the BYO version of the Brix-to-SG calculator is always significantly lower than the others. The bug was in the source article so it's not your fault jjarmoc. (IMG:style_emoticons/brewboard/smile.gif) Here is the correct formula:
=1.000019+(0.003865613*(H2)+0.00001296425*(H2*H2)+0.00000005701128*(H2*H2*H2)) That formula should go in cell Now it agrees exactly with ProMash and is within a couple of points of the others. Edit: cell H4 corrected to H3 and formula corrected. |
