Planning on brewing an easy drinking honey blonde ale tomorrow. I put this recipe together based on some reading in "Radical Brewing". I'd prefer to use German or Belgian malt as "Radical Brewing" recommends, but I've got 25 lbs. of American 2 row and need to put it to work! Like to hear any feedback before I brew.
Grain/Extract/Sugar % Amount Name Origin Potential SRM ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.1 0.50 lbs. Vienna Malt America 1.035 4 89.8 11.00 lbs. Pale Malt(2-row) America 1.036 2 4.1 0.50 lbs. Crystal 10L America 1.035 10 2.0 0.25 lbs. Honey Malt Canada 1.030 18 Potential represented as SG per pound per gallon. Hops Amount Name Form Alpha IBU Boil Time ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1.00 oz. Hallertau Hersbrucker Pellet 3.30 14.8 60 min. 0.50 oz. Czech Saaz Pellet 3.60 2.7 20 min. 0.50 oz. Czech Saaz Pellet 3.60 0.0 0 min. Yeast ----- White Labs WLP001 California Ale Bottle Priming ----- 3/4 cup honey I've never primed with honey so I'd appreciate any recommendations about doing this. Thanks! |

Depending on what you're looking for, here are my suggestions:
-Up the honey malt to at least .75 lb. Maybe even 1 lb -Use more Honey, at least 1 lb, and use it at flame out. You'll take care of pasturization without losing the flavors -WLP002 is my preferred honey-beer yeast. You don't want it to finish too dry |
