My engineer BIL and his engineer friend came up with this 3 tier design. It works pretty darn good and takes up very little space when not in use. It is a gravity system so no pumps are needed. There are 2 sculptures in the pictures and they often brew 2 batches side by side. I think they are pretty cool and they should be shared.

Wow that is truly ingenious. Now who of you is going to make a similar version in steel?
Nice job! Thanks for sharing. |

not too shabby...not too shabby at all. Are you able to stand on the back step where the propane is? How sturdy is it? You should patent the idea before someone else steals it.

Nice setup although I get really nervous having boiling liquid above my head.

cool design. Might want to think about bracing those legs somehow for safety.

Very clever and ingenious, and very nicely built. It also minimizes the amount of lumber you need to use, and obviously stores very neatly. Your brother in law clearly did his homework.

I apolgize for the supidity, but how does it work? Is the pic. showing the correct set-up? If the top tier is the mash tun, it then drains down to the second tier to boil, but I don't see a cooker on that tier.
I'm trying to improve my stand, without the use of pumps or without carrying hot, heavy liquids. Thanks |

Thanks I had the same question for a minute, but if you look at the first picture, you can see the boil kettle sitting on a stand on the ground outside. So I'm pretty sure the top level is an HLT, mid-level is mash tun, boil is at ground level. Nice setup! EH |

Damn Chip that is very cool. I actually agree with WinkyDow. No problem if somebody steals it and makes it at home, but if someone starts marketing the design, your brother should at least get some cash out of the deal.

My guess is that the second tier is the mash and the boil kettle isn't in the pic. bingo, the bk is on a turkey fryer on the ground in this case. It also works to have the bk on the lowest tier, then it drains into fermenter sitting on the ground. I think that's what he does with 5 gallon batches. Jayflap you and winkydow might be right. I'll pass the suggestion on to him. |
