"No Crap On Tap" is the motto at Falling Rock and they live up to it. There's no crap in bottles either. Located in Denver's LoDo district at 1919 Blake St., Falling Rock serves up a wide variety of American and International Craft Beers including a nice selection of Belgians.
Atmosphere The atmosphere is Colorado crunchy, bordering on grunge. If that turns you off, you might consider other places. To me it makes for a comfortable pub ambiance (if that word even applies to pubs). The main seating area includes a bar all the way down one side and 8-10 booths in the center. On the opposite side from the bar is an area for bands to set up and also a couch, coffee table and a few nice, comfy overstuffed chairs. Downstairs is pool and darts. There is also seating outdoors when the weather is good. Service Normally the service is excellent however when the place is overflowing, like at GABF, it's nearly impossible to get served. Bellying up to the bar is your best bet. Beer Selection The lineup is always in a state of flux but it's always extensive and of the highest quality (how many places that you know of have La Trappe Quadrupel on tap). About half the beers are US microbrews and about half of those are from Colorado. Most of the rest are from Belgium but all the major beer-making countries are represented. I believe that the list includes about 70ish beers on tap and about that same number in bottles. Food The food is typical pub faire: burgers, fries, wings, pizza and subs. Nothing special but very tasty, if not the healthiest food in Denver. Summary If it's good beer you're after and you aren't looking for anything fancy, this is your spot. The food is good, the atmosphere is comfy, the location is convenient and the beer selection is hard to beat. Check it out. |

While I loved the freshness & variety of the selections, I had to give it a seven because of the poor service I've received every time I have been there. The first time I went there I got so much attitude from the server I got my check, settled up, stiffed him & left. I'm a former bartender & I NEVER stiff servers but this guy earned it. I went back a couple times &, while they weren't as bad as the jerk from the first night, I still caught enough attitude to have it negatively impact otherwise enjoyable nights.

Greg, Thanks for officially depressing me...Just kiding. If you have never been to Falling Rock...GO! IMO A FANTASTIC PLACE! If you do make it look for the area described having chairs and a coffee table...Your might find MtnBrewer in his normal chair. This means little without pics so somebody post them we know the exist!
Thanks for the review! I gave it a 10+ |

I gave it an 8. I've had so-so service there the last several times. And last time I was there I could see a slimy substance growing on one of the taps. I've heard that they clean their taps regularly so maybe it was an abnormality.
But the beer selection is great and one of the best places to drink before a Rockies game. |

I agree with Mtn's review - this is a great spot. There was a guy with a "beer geek" shirt serving, when I showed interest in Flanders Red beers he proceeded to pour me tasters of the 4 he had on tap. Okay, first of all, who ever would have 4 Flanders Reds on tap??? I was blown away, and he did an excellent job of explaining how each of the beers had been crafted and which flavors to look for. It was a slow Sunday afternoon, but I felt this was great service. They also had some good local stuff on cask - "man beer" which you have to try.

I stopped in for a mid afternoon of drinking and food when the AHC was in Denver. I like the decor and feel. Cannot complain about the selection. Food was good, typical bar food.
Service was fine just odd. The place was pretty much empty. Could really get anyone to wait on our table, we ended up going to the bar ordering from the bartender who had the food sent to us. Everyone was friendly, just expect a little bit of DIY. |

I also give it a 10 for having the best and freshest beers of the world all in one spot. But I do agree, when crowded, service is kinda slow. But, if you know what you want go get it. I will create my own service to get these kinds of beers.

Great beer, sure. But when the help alway acts like pricks, it hard to give a perfect score. I like the grungy atmosphere. Food was tastey the one time I ate there. Tacos as I remember it. Huge portion.
