There are two Weeping Radish locations, I had the opportunity to visit the location in Manteo, NC which is a restaurant only, no brewing there. Their other location, the farm/brewery is in Jarvisburg, NC.
Atmosphere The atmosphere is like a German beer hall with ample seating and an outdoor beer garden with plenty of seating as well if the weather is permitting. I thought it was very traditional and it was done in a way that is not kitschy, but very authentic. Service We went during the middle of the week and it was not that busy, the service was excellent, our waitress was very friendly and knowledgable of their products. Beer Selection The offer a good selection of German traditional beers that are brewed with organic ingredients. I thoroughly enjoyed all of their beers. One thing you will not find is any gimmicky beers or strange offerings, it is all traditional and nothing is off-the-wall. Food The serve pub style with with a wide selection of traditional German style fare including several different sausages (wursts). Many of the dishes featured are made with organic ingredients. The food that we ordered was all very excellent, served hot and cooked to order. Summary I thoroughly enjoyed the Weeping Radish. We all had a great meal and the beers were good as well. If you are looking for organic foods and beers or a German twist on your dining experience then the Weeping Radish is for you. |

I gave it an 8 only because I haven't been there in 10 years. Any place that stays open that long in an area that isn't/wasn't known for brewpubs has gotta be good.
It was good when I lived on the Outer Banks from 1990 to 1995. I remember one season, they brewed a Fest beer that was too strong for public sale. They gave a keg of it to a couple of girls that worked there, and also the roommates of a couple of guys that worked for me. It was one of the tastiest black beers I've ever had. It was wayyyy strong, too. That would have been in about 1992. Kudos to the Radish for staying power! |

Oddly enough the Manteo location closed the day before this post was originated. I would have normally rated it a 5, but mainly to bring attention to the fact it is closed I gave it a 1.
