Hamilton's is a neighborhood pub in the South Park area of San Diego that according to their website http://www.hamiltonstavern.com/ is perhaps the oldest licensed pub in San Diego. Located at 1521 30th St it is close to Balboa Park and the zoo, and a short hop from the convention center and downtown hotels.

Atmosphere: Pub atmosphere with jukebox, pool tables, fussbol and a hockey game. It is small and gets noisy even when not very crowded. Can be packed and very noisy on weekends. There is a bar with seating for several, and some tables. There are a couple TVs showing sports.

Service: There was no table service when I have been there, you have to get up to the bar where there are typically one or two bartenders to take your order. The bartenders did not seem particularly knowledgeable about the beer.

Beer Selection: There are about 20 beers on tap and one cask beer. Local micros are featured such as Alesmith, Stone, Moonlight, Green Flash, Port Brewing and Ballast Point. They also had Delerium Tremens and some other notable brews on tap when I visited. You can peruse their updated selection here: http://www.hamiltonstavern.com/ontap.php In addition there is a triple-wide cooler with many more bottle selections including hard-to-find local micros and imports.

Food: No food except the 2nd Saturday of each month, when they have food/beer pairings.

Summary: If you're looking for a neighborhood bar with an outstanding selection of San Diego's award-winning micros and top-quality imports this is a good spot, although it can get noisy and crowded Thurs - Sat night.
