I am creating a kegerator next weekend and am looking for some ideas for tap handles; therefore please show off your tap handles and give some ideas. Thanks in advance.

These are 3" X 4" blocks that I just stick my lables to. The are a low height to make getting kegs in and out easier.

Mine are the 1.5" mini pool balls drilled and epoxied to the black tap handles. I then use grease boards to keep vital stats of what is on tap.

I did a sports theme for my taps. All started off like the brown one, which will eventually be another team.

Here's a pic of the Falcon tap handles that our Club artist-in-residence Cullen made for the bar I built:
(IMG:http://www.maltosefalcons.com/photos/photos/2006%2010%2014%20Oktoberfest/2006_Oktoberfest_022_FalconTaps.jpg) Here's a longer shot of the bar at the National HOmebrew Cconference Club Night in Vegas. It was also used in the hospitality suite at both the Vegas and Denver NHCs. (IMG:http://home.socal.rr.com/fletcherkands/Photos/Club%20Night.jpg) |

I keep a chalkboard above the keggerator to describe whats on tap. I really dig the ones with labels like Bryan did.

Where did you get the Red Sox tap handle? Fabricated from a key chain, all of them were done this way. (IMG:http://stores.wholesalecentral.com/Images/EECUWDCXVRTTSFJ501RTFNCMMA4XCM/73276639123.jpg) This post has been edited by Given2fly: Mar 17 2008, 08:24 PM |

You could probably use glue, but I used JB weld. Each tap handle probably cost about $15-20 to make ($7-8 for the handle, $3 for key chain, $5 for faucet attachment). I started making the final one last night, here are some pics...
After spraying the tap handle with high gloss paint, I drilled a hole for the screw that will hold the keychain. The chrome piece that is shown below is a sink faucet attachment that I found at Lowe's for $5-6. It's not necessary, but I like how it added a polished look to the handles and it also adds some weight. See pic below of parts... (IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v405/given2flybrewing/DSC01598.jpg) Here is a pic after JB welding the screw and sink faucet attachment to the handle. I've also used a dremel to trim off the top part of the keychain... (IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v405/given2flybrewing/DSC01601.jpg) The last part is to JB weld the keychain to the screw on the tap handle (can't do this until the other parts are dry). The final product will turn out like those pictured below (brown handle is actually the new handle pictured above)... (IMG:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v405/given2flybrewing/DSC01597.jpg) There are some sports tap handles on Ebay that are larger than mine for roughly $40, but I liked making my own. And although I like the tap handles that show what kind of beer people have on tap, I generally don't make the same beers and thought that I would get tired of making new labels each time. So I'll probably have some sort of chalkboard or dry erase board that tells me what's on what sports team tap. Good luck if you decide to go this route! |
