For those of you who are not similar with dark lord day just google 'three floyds dark lord'....
I met up with DrSteve, but missed carlos and jimvy...
I'm not sure how I missed carlos, he called my cell but I when I called him right back he was already gone...

I'm bad at estimating crowds but I would guess when I got there at 1pm there was about 300 people in line, and another 100 in the parking lot?? Some of the people in line said they'd been there since 9am...

I cut in line with steve when I got there. I met his wife, and two very nice friends of theirs.
I stayed with them in line for about an hour or so, maybe more. Who knew you could go to an event that almost entirely consisted of standing in line, and everyone was having a good time! When we almost got to the door, I ducked out of line to get a sausage (never planned on buying beer), good thing because they ran out of beer about 15 people in front of steve's group... doh!

The sausage was pretty good (served with onions on pretzel bread) but inconsistent. Mine looked like a giant brat, steve's wife got one that looked like a small hot dog. I would have complained.

There were a lot of homebrewers and brew clubs there, I took 6 of my stout and traded, and tasted, many different beers. I went more to meet people and trade homebrews then anything. It was a lot of fun. I did eventually try a dark lord '07 that they had on tap. One of the guys I was trading with from indy got a round for the group his table. To be honest I didn't much care for it. It was like drinking a good stout with 4 shots of jack dumped in..

I also tried some of the blueberry ale (good), and blackberry ale(better), I tried corn beer (nasty).....

The weather was cooler then expected and it was very windy, but thankfully there was no rain. The band didn't show up, or was possibly playing indoors because of weather concerns. If that was the case it wasn't very effective considering 90% of the party was outdoors.

Pics to follow.....

Ps. I have pics of steve but i see he doesn't have any images on his profile. Maybe he doesn't want any images of him on here?

Sorry about that the cell was in my bag for a few minutes while the line was moving up, when I got it back out it said 'call missed 3 minutes ago'. I dialed you back and left a message. Did you leave right after you got your beer?

What time did you get there? How many people do you think were there when you left?

Ya they were looped around the school parking lot but they stopped at the corner of the building, just out of fame to the right...

Y'all sure have a higher tolerance for standing in line and not getting what you came for than I do. They ran out of beer and still allowed people to stand in line for hours thinking they were going to get what they came for? Inexcusable.

there were alot of people as stand in's and when it was time to get the beer about 6 of em came in and bought the max, not to mention to contreversey of alot of ratebeer people cutting back in line after thier purchase in order to get 6 more.

There should be a stamp policy on hands once they are purchased. Yes it may bea clever device by three floyds but damn it works. Hopefully the bottle the Vanilla Bourbon Dark Lord in bottles next year. (yes im going)

I was sitting in the parking lot right next to the line with about 4 other people when they ran out. A couple of employees were walking through the parking lot telling people they were sold out (the line was still half way to the school). About 50 or so people went from the line to the beer and food sales tents. Then a bunch of people from the road just moved in to the parking lot right in to a line again.

I said to the people I was with, "why is everyone lining up again. Didn't he just say they ran out?" We thought maybe they found some more, or the people telling everyone they sold out were wrong..

Sorry we missed you guys. We hit up Piece, Map Room, New Holland, Founders, Arbor Brewing, Dark Horse and Bell's the two days prior, so we were a little late in getting to FFF and didn't check for PMs before heading out. For the record, Arbor Brewing are the coolest people around. I've never been treated so well....and the sour beers they hooked us up with from their cellar were amongst the best I've ever had. Dark Horse was a close second....they hooked us up and talked and drank with us for hours. Awesome people. Founders was probably 3rd on my list, but we arrived in the evening while a band was playing so didn't get to hang out with anyone....but the beer was even better on tap than in the bottle. New Holland had a great restaurant but the beer is so so at best.

Frankly, I think the whole event was the biggest goat rodeo I've ever been to. The 3F people knew right from the beginning that there wasn't enough beer to go around...they could have easily cut the max to 3-4 bottles to spread it around. At the very least they should have started working their way down the line with a count so that everyone didn't waste 5 hrs of their life for nothing. I also agree that there were some real assholes cutting. We got up to the building and 4-5 guys were just standing there trying to cut....total crap....some sort of stamping definitely necessary. If you arrived on time, you didn't get to enjoy the guest beers or the bands, because you were in line all day. They need to rethink the way they are doing this whole thing.

For all their talk of bigger, better, etc etc....it was a crappy event and the least favorite part of our 3 days. I'd have been happier had we just came home on Saturday.
